Mission Control
[Made in 48 hours for the GMTK Game Jam 2020.]
The very talented @mattstracktv made a dope trailer for this game! Check out his stuff for sure.
Watch the devlog for this game here!

Sometimes, Colt feels like his life is out of control.
In a futuristic world where commercial space travel is commonplace and humanity is exploring the cosmos, Colt is stuck working a minimum-wage Mission Control call center job back on Earth.
Things are put into perspective when he receives a distress call from a young pilot in crisis.
Made in 48 hours for the GMTK Game Jam 2020 for the theme Out of Control and was submitted just past the deadline, oops :(
I made all of the assets (code, story, art, SFX, etc) for this game myself within the jam period! I'll be making a devlog soon, you can keep an eye out for it at my Youtube channel.
Controls:
Left mouse: Advance story, select dialogue options, interact with room
Space: Toggle notetaking pad
R: restart story
The game is sort of buggy as-is. Some dialogue has response options that appear in the bottom right; if you don't click one of these, you can run into issues. Beware.

Looks cool, but currently not really playable for me as the dialogue text doesn't scale on my 4k monitor and is too small to comfortably read.
Totally understandable. I'm still learning about proper UI scaling :)
The game froze for me after writing down the number on the paper. The paper doesn't go away and clicking does nothing.
Press SPACE.
Hi! I really liked your game! But after I called Max's father, the screen just went dark. I can't tell if that means the game is over or if this isn't supposed to happen. If thats the end, is it possiable you could maybe put a message or something at the end to make it more clear? If its just a bug or an accident though, let me know as I'd love to continue playing!
Exact same thing happened to me.
Same here, But I chose to call the dad.
Me too, an endscreen would be great.
I didn't take part in the game jam this year however I think the way that you interpreted the theme was very creative. The story was amazing even though it was a little short and the art style was surprisingly fitting to the game and looked great. Just started watching your videos a couple of weeks ago and am a fan. Keep up the awesome content and games : )
Thank you for the nice comment! And thank you for taking the time to come over here to itch to play the game :) Glad you enjoy the channel.
I came and tried out your game from your youtube video!
Nice game, the story is nice and well throught out! I expirienced no bugs! I loved the game! The notebook part inspired me with a game idea, thanks!
Thank you! I'm glad that you could get some inspiration from this lil project. I appreciate you taking the time to come check out the game , and glad that it gave you some fun :)
Very cool concept! I like the unusual setting. Some of the character writing (especially when Colt tells himself to remember his training) is really charming and characteristic too.
Bonus-points for choosing a gender-neutral name for Sam! <3 Loved it!
Thank you! And yes, Sam was a deliberate choice :)
the game is crashing sometimes when im playing it
Sorry! I know of a bug that occurs when there are response options and you try to advance the dialogue. If there are options in the bottom right, be sure to click those, not the textbox. Otherwise, I'm not sure of a different bug that breaks the game, but it's entirely possible.
Nice story, the notepad was a little weird, especially with a mouse.
I agree, the mouse writing isn't ideal. I'm glad you liked the story, though :
is the screen supposed to turn black after calling your stepson/max's dad?
Yes, that's the end of the game :')
The narrative is so spot on ! very emotional and well written. The game mood adds a lot to it and somehow I feel the webGL version to be laggy on my computer so the notes looked like a drunken mission control wrote it. Which was funny, I thought it was on purpose.
Awesome game congrats !
Thank you! Hah, I'm not sure about WebGL lag, but I'm sure it varies across machines. Glad you were able to enjoy the drunken writing :P
I really like this game! Props to you for the story. One suggestion though make interact buttons more noticeable.
Thank you! Yes, I completely agree. The UI scaling was a bug courtesy of the 48 hour jam time limit, but the game is at least playable :)
Beautiful + emotional vignette! Love the art and dialogue and the notepad is brilliant
Thx E :D
